Brand new beer garden

One of the greatest things about the Calgary Stampede is that the entire city celebrates. That’s precisely why you can find Stampede tents pretty damn far away from the grounds. Okay, Wildhorse Saloon and Tent is still downtown, but it’s still a hike from the Stampede grounds. Guess what makes that hike easier; a massive outdoor beer garden. You’ll be able to find us there approximately 3 out of 10 nights. *Note: This is a very, very rough estimate.

Where: Wildhorse Tent– 500 6 Ave SW

Tiesto & Kaskade

Tiesto will be playing on Wednesday, July 10th. No, it’s not country music. Also, it may be very off theme. That being said, seeing one of EDM’s biggest stars of all time in an indoor/outdoor tent during the Calgary Stampede is impossible to pass up.

When: Wednesday, July 10
Where: Knoxville’s Tavern– 840 9 Ave SW

BBQ with Guy Fieri

Firstly, we don’t want you to go to this event. Why? Because we want to get Guy’s attention without you distracting him. You may be a Guy Fieri fan, but are you a big enough fan to get his signature tattooed on your skin? Probably not. We may not be either, but come Thursday, July 11th we’ll know for sure.

When: Thursday, July 11
Where: Cowboys Tent– Between 11th and 12th Ave SE

Bryan Adams at Oxford Stomp

Summer of ’69 is the soundtrack to every good Canadian’s life. Disagree? Then we’ve got a problem. All jokes seriousness aside, Oxford Stomp is a hell of a show. Don’t miss it!

Where: Shaw Millennium Park– 1220 9 Ave SW

Calgary’s first indoor skydiving spot

Yee-fricken-haw, Calgary.

Outdoor Movies

Ever since Danny and Sandy had that iconic drive-in movie date, we’ve wanted to recreate the scene. Gotta get that summer lovin’ in some time, right?! Luckily for us Calgarians, there’s a bunch of outdoor film events to pick from over the next month.

Nick Cave: Feat. Exhibit

The newest exhibit to grace The Glenbow Museum, the Nick Cave: Feat. exhibit features the artist’s signature Soundsuits as well as sculpture, video and installation works. Nick Cave, often referred to as a “messenger” is interested in connecting people and ideas. Through Nick Cave’s brilliantly colourfully and politically charged art, he seeks to transform anger and despair into love, action, and possibility.

When: Runs throughout the month
Where: The Glenbow Museum
Cost: $11.00 – $18.00

Def Leppard

Pour Some Sugar On Me is forever our go-to stripper anthem. Is it weird that we have a go-to stripper anthem? Maybe. But we have no regrets and we’re definitely hitting this concert this month, you should too.

When: Wednesday, July 31
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome

You might not get summer vacation anymore (or maybe you do, lucky son-of-a-gun), but you do get to enjoy these things to do in Calgary this July. Wanna get some ice cream? Go tanning? Have a rootin’ tootin’ time on the D-floor? Perfect.
