Calgary’s favourite ‘Screamfest’ is returning for one weekend only
October is the month of fright, freaks, and fleeing to the nearest exit before what may or may not be a paid actor fake kills you. In case you haven’t heard, Screamfest has been resurrected and is arriving in town with HEX Expo Calgary, one of the city’s largest Halloween events.
Let’s take a little look at what Screamfest Resurrected and the HEX Expo each have to offer.
This screamfest will be a cocktail party of terror with new attractions that will have you screaming twice as loud as last year. Clowns? Yeah, they’ll be there. Grim Reaper? Yup, he RSVP’d too. Basically anything and everything that lurks in the dark, under your bed and in your nightmares, will be in attendance.
But this year’s guest of honor will be notorious mommas boy Norman Bates.
Under the flickering vacancy sign and a sky full of stars, check yourself into the historic Bates Motel. You might immediately feel a sense of regret, but hey, at least you can say you were there! Pro-tip… don’t order the room service and shower with the door locked. Because this isn’t your grandmother’s Super 8.
While you were staycationing in an Alfred Hitchcock movie, Rick Grimes called. He wants his plotline back! Take a jaunty stroll through the extreme zombie house with the walking dead. Maybe even stay for dinner. You’ll probably be the main course, but peeps gotta eat.
You might not get out with all of your leggy bits, but it’s okay. After all, Screamfest has an alternative means of transportation. Take their Train of Terrror to the end of the line…because you’ll really have no other choice. We promise you’ll exclusively use ridesharing apps after a trip on this ride.
HEX ENTERTAINMENT EXPO
If you’d like to keep all of your limbs, or haunted houses just aren’t your thing, you should definitely still hit up HEX. It’s a Halloween and Entertainment expo brought to you by the team behind Screamfest, so you know it’ll be a hell of a time.
At HEX, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and greet celebrity guests like Meatloaf. Yes, THE meatloaf. Robert Englund, Freddy Freaking Krueger himself. Nick Castle, the man behind the Michael Myers Mask and a ton more. Including a few familiar faces from HBO’s Game of Thrones. Shop a ton of Halloween themed retail booths, attend seminars, and play carnival games. Plus, you’ll see some of the creepiest entertainment Calgary has to offer.
Tickets for Screamfest and HEX can purchased here. You’re sure to have a bone-chilling time!
