Movers, shakers and occasional rule breakers: 2023 is here, and if you’re among the many who hope to leave unnecessary tickets in the past – we’d recommend you take note!

This week, Calgary Police announced their new mobile photo radar and intersection safety camera locations and it could help you save lives – and of course, some money along the way.

“In response to community needs identified through statistical analysis, collisions, and citizen concerns, mobile photo radar will be set up on Crowchild Trail, Glenmore Trail, Deerfoot Trail, Macleod Trail, Sarcee Trail and Stoney Trail,” they wrote.

“For the month of January, photo radar will be focusing on the communities of Abbeydale, Arbour Lake, Braeside, Cedarbrae, Cityscape, Copperfield, Coventry Hills, Evergreen, Glendale/Killarney/Glengarry, Greenwood/Greenbriar, Hidden Valley, Hungtington Hills, Manchester, Mayland Heights, McKenzie Towne, Mission, New Brighton, North Haven, Panorama, Renfrew, Rosscarrock/Westgate, Saddle Ridge, South Calgary, Thorncliffe, and Tuscany.”

For those new to the roads or who are unfamiliar with the city – Calgary’s photo radar cameras are meant to reduce the number of accidents and “foster a safer driving environment at our intersections.”

From red lights to fender benders, these cameras will photograph anyone entering an equipt intersection during all phases of the signal – so it’s important to know where to be extra alert.
