His bravery turned the tide against American forces, making him a founding hero of Upper Canada.
Funded through public contributions, the 1853 monument speaks to the strong Canadian pride of that era.

What makes this monument worth visiting is the incredible views at the top.
Inside, you’ll find a gallery along with a stone staircase that leads you up to an observation deck.
This journey takes you on a climb to the monument’s peak, where a breathtaking panorama unfolds.
Lake Ontario stretches out to the north in front of you, while to the south, you’ll get treated to views of the majestic Niagara River.

It’s also one of the only monuments in the country where you can actually step inside and explore.
The monument is open daily until Labour Day weekend. Those visiting in October are encouraged to look online for any events taking place at the monument.
