Oh boy Edmonton, have we been waiting for this week for a while. Two of the summer’s largest festivals are kicking off, alongside all the other amazing options around the city! Let’s see what’s out there, hey?

Here are the best things to do in Edmonton this week.

K-DAYS

Free concerts, midway rides, delicious food… yeah, K-Days is the entire package, and those highlights are just scratching the surface!

When: Starts Friday, July 22nd
Where: 7515 – 118 Avenue
Cost: $15+

TASTE OF EDMONTON

Running at the same time, this massive food festival is a great bonus pick for those wanting a break from K-Days, but are still in the festival mood.

When: Starts Thursday, July 21st
Where: Churchill Square
Cost: $5+ for tickets

IMPROVAGANZA

And to round out our festival picks, we’ve got a comedy option! Improvaganza kicked off last week, but has shows throughout this one as well. Check out the lineup, pick one that sounds fun, and go have a laugh (or eight).

When: On until Saturday, July 23rd
Where: 8529 Gateway Boulevard
Cost: Varies per show

EDMONTON ELKS

Heyo! The Elks won their last game, and we want that to be the start of a little streak for them this season. Go cheer them on and help make it happen!

When: Friday, July 22nd
Where: 11000 Stadium Road
Cost: $32.53+

FORT EDMONTON PARK

The already iconic destination got a major renovation last year, and this is its first full season back! Family-friendly options that double as date ideas are few and far between, but we definitely think Fort Edmonton Park is a great example of it.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 7000 143 Street NW
Tickets: $26.20

BITE INTO BURGERS

We’ve got a few guides that we’re going to use at least a few times ourselves this summer. First up is the classic lunch/road trip snack- the humble burger. Of course, Edmonton’s burger scene has a lot to brag about, from longtime favourites to gourmet options and new concepts.

SCOOP UP A LITTLE ICE CREAM

Ice cream is without a doubt the yin to the burger’s yang, and luckily Edmonton has no shortage of that, either. Best paired after a day trip or another outdoor activity, a trip for a delicious scoop of ice cream is something we can’t go without. Especially when somewhat healthier options (like plant-based) are available.

TAKE SOME PALS TO THE PATIO

Whether it’s weekend brunch, an afternoon snack, or a full blown multi-course meal, Edmonton has an amazing variety of patios to check out this summer. And with our list, you’ll be the go-to friend for picking!

HAVE A LAKE DAY

Itching to get out of the city for a bit? Our top pick (as long as it’s sunny) it’s checking out one of the many amazing lakes near Edmonton! Grab your pals, maybe rent a boat while you’re there, chill on the beach… it’s everything you could ask for!

HIKE AROUND

Of course, the even more adventurous among us might be feeling like a hike is the better call. No problems there either, as there are some fantastic options whether you’re staying in the River Valley or travelling further afield.
