This Ontario beach town was recognized as one of Canada’s best places to live

Here’s your next Ontario adventure! The town of Cobourg is where nature’s beauty meets country charm. It’s considered “Ontario’s feel good town” and here’s what to know.

Located in Northumberland County just off of Highway 401, this gem of a town is just a 90-minute drive from Toronto. It’s worth the day trip adventure if you’re looking for a little escape.

It sits on the east coast of Lake Ontario and is home to a pristine white sand beach, which in the summer is a popular destination.

This beach was once a well-kept secret by locals but has since become more popular because of how special it is.

Along with that, it is home to a lovely downtown core with a number of historic buildings, according to Northumberland Tourism. Victoria Hall, which is the town hall and tourist attraction was built in the 1850s; the Cobourg Railway Station which was originally designed in 1896; and the 860s cottage and barracks at the Sifton Cook Heritage Centre. According to the tourism board, the latter was the former home of Marie Dressler, the first Canadian female Academy Award Winner.

All that being said, the town has also received recognition for being one of Canada’s best places to live.

According to the town’s website, Cobourg has been named multiple times by MoneySense Magazine for being one of the top places to live in the whole country, among places with populations under 25,000.

That may be because it has a little bit of everything you would want around you, from incredible outdoor attractions to great restaurants and shops.

As for restaurants, you’ll find everything from casual to fine dining in this town, complete with sunset and lakefront views.

It’s worth the adventure in any season!
