Dust off your boards, Alberta, because ski season is back at Sunshine Village in Back – and no, you didn’t sleep through the summer months.

Despite the sun in the sky and grass below your feet, one of Banff’s favourite ski hills has announced that they’re reopening this week, just in time for Canada Day.

“With over 900 cm of Canada’s Best Snow accumulating on our slopes this past winter, at the end of June, we find ourselves with a surplus of snow,” said Kendra Scurfield, Director of Brand and Communications in a statement. “What’s a resort to do we asked? And answer by deciding to open for Summer Skiing and Riding!”

Sadly, this won’t last throughout the entire season, so if you’re interested – don’t hesitate.

The Strawberry Express will only be accessible to the public between Tuesday, June 28th and July 3rd, from 9 am to 3 pm.

Access to the slopes will be FREE for anyone who has already purchased a 22/23 Sunshine Season Pass or SkiBig3 Pass and will be $59 for everyone else – however, if you bought a pass for last winter you will receive a 50% discount.

If you do check it out – please note that there are a few things to be mindful of. First, it’s essential that you stay on the groomed terrain. Not only is it dangerous to stray, but the resort’s ‘environmental integrity’ could get damaged.

Second, you’re going to get warmer than usual – so dress accordingly.

As always, food and beverages will be available and both lodges will be open for all guests.

Now get out there and enjoy, folks! This is a rare opportunity, and you won’t want to miss out.
