Hot off the heels of announcing a nationwide tour in Canada, pop-rock icon Avril Lavigne has hinted that a movie about her famous song ‘Sk8r Boi’ might be on the way too. The comments came during a recent interview with Lavigne, so let’s see what she said.

During her appearance on the She Is The Voice podcast from iHeartRadio, Lavigne said that it “keeps getting brought back up and people will always reference it to me. And so, I’m actually going to turn this song into a film and take it to the next level…”

While there has been no official confirmation that the movie is in the works, or that Lavigne has even found a studio for it, we’re intrigued. After all, the classic high school romance/coming of age story did really hit the nail on the head when it came out, and has become an absolutely iconic song. We don’t know the exact number of times we reference it in a year, but it has to be in the dozens.

So, even if the Sk8r Boi movie ends up being hastily-made by Hallmark, we think we’d still probably check it out. We’re thinking a mixture of Cruel Intentions with Mean Girls, and maybe even a little bit of Grind (now there’s a throwback) for good measure.
