Looking to travel this summer and want to stay on land but ditch the car? Trains are your new best friend. Amtrak serves nearly the entire US with 14 world-famous routes and train travel is both of the most classic and unique ways you can travel. If you’re ready to see the views, kick back and relax, and take to the tracks, here’s how you can get up to 20% off your next national Amtrak trip.

Perhaps the greatest perk to train travel is all the sights you get to see along the way, especially when you take a longer route. Amtrak has two long lines that service Seattle and follows the routes as listed below.

Coast Starlight: Seattle/Portland – Sacramento – Oakland (San Francisco) – San Jose – Santa Barbara – Los Angeles
Empire Builder: Portland/Seattle – Spokane – St. Paul/Minneapolis – Milwaukee – Chicago

Other perks of riding the train include the fact that you can bring up to two checked bags, two carry-on bags, and two personal items for free. So don’t worry about picking up a souvenir or two!

What’s more, all you have to do to save up to 20% is book a Coach ticket at least 7 days in advance. If you don’t want to ride Coach there are also Saver Fares available on each route. Prices vary based on the length of your travel.

Whether you want to ride all the way down to Los Angeles, over Montana, or to Portland, there’s a deal for you. Keep in mind you can also take the Amtrak Cascades train up to Vancouver BC but because the train runs internationally, it does not have the same deals.

Happy travels!
