This small town in Ontario serves as a backdrop for over 15 movies

Almonte, Ont., is a must-visit spot this spring or summer. The small town can be found in Mississippi Mills near Ottawa, which is an adorable area with lots to do! The town is so cute that it’s served as a backdrop for a ton of Christmas movies — over 15, to be exact!

Want to check out this little haven for yourself? Here’s what to do while visiting.

Almonte makes it easy when it comes to checking out which movies have been shot there, listing them on their town website.

A handful of the films are Hallmark, and the area even coins itself as “Mini Hollywood North.”

It’s no surprise that Almonte has seen success as a film backdrop, with the Mississippi River flowing through the area to make for some scenic views, along with the town’s historic downtown — another draw for visitors.

If you take a stroll through downtown, you’ll see preserved heritage buildings, museums, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes.

Speaking of restaurants and cafes, Almonte is also known for being a great spot for foodies, according to their website. Cafe Postino, Joe’s Italian Kitchen, North Market, and The Almonte Ice Cream Shop can all be found along Mill Street, while The Barley Mow offers waterfront patio views on Little Bridge Street.

While you’re along the waterfront, take a stroll down the Riverwalk.

Along the Riverwalk are stunning views of the Mississippi River as it weaves its way beneath the train bridge and past Kirkland Park to a lookout by the Victoria Woollen Mill that offers a breathtaking view of the Grand Falls, a popular waterfall you can check out.

Weekend road trip to Almonte, anyone?
