There’s a magical holiday festival in Ontario with horse-drawn carriage and mini train rides

A one-of-a-kind magical holiday experience is coming to Ontario’s Upper Canada Village starting this November. Get ready to be whisked away by the thrilling winter wonderland that will soon take over one of the largest living-history sites in Canada. Here’s what to know about the annual Alight at Night festival.

Kicking off on November 29th, Alight at Night will light up the evening sky with over one million lights, creating a stunning holiday backdrop. Heritage buildings, trees, and fences will be adorned with lights.

“Bundle up for an evening stroll through this picture-perfect postcard setting. Over one million lights illuminate Upper Canada Village, creating a one-of-a-kind magical backdrop – a true winter wonderland!” shares the site.

What can I expect?

Here’s what’s on the itinerary:

  • Pommier Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride –  It includes a  30-minute carriage ride for up to four guests. Your ticket to this experience also includes full access to the Alight at Night Festival and a gift of four tickets for Upper Canada Village’s regular day programming in 2025.

  • Festive Sound & Light Show – Enjoy the Sound and Light Show at Crysler Hall.
