This Ontario village is one of the largest living-history sites in Canada

Within the municipality of South Dundas is a true blast from the past. Morrisburg, Ontario is home to Upper Canada Village – a world where history comes to life, literally!

Upper Canada Village is Morrisburg’s biggest attraction, known as Ontario’s very own time capsule.
The spot is one of the largest living history sites in Canada, according to the site. Upper Canada Village features over 40 historical buildings including homes, functioning mills and trades workshops!
“Touring Upper Canada Village is a magical experience, transporting you back in time to the 1860s. A key part of the experience is the authentic buildings that make up the village, the activities that they each housed, and of course, the people who lived there,” says the website.
Oh, did we mention the bakery? The bakery on site makes fresh bread twice a day! There’s also a cheese factory, a hotel, a woollen factory, a chapel, a shoemaker, and much more.
The experiences in select buildings are immersive and hands-on so if you’re looking for an educational day out with the family, this could be the day trip for you.

During the fall time, the village turns into a Halloween spectacle! Visitors can enjoy “a magical display of over 9,000 hand-crafted pumpkins all lit at night along a kilometre-long path in a picturesque 19th-century backdrop! From whimsical wonders to eerie enchantments, our 25 dazzling pumpkin sculpture exhibits are perfect for all ages!”
Admission ranges in price. children 0-4 get in for free, youth 5-12 costs $16, students 13-18 $19 and adults $25.
