An award-winning new spot for Indian cuisine is coming to the GTA and it’s got clout. Farzi Café is opening its first Canadian location in Mississauga this October, joining the 19 existing ones worldwide. The London restaurant even received a nod in the prestigious MICHELIN Guide last year.

Farzi Café is described as a “modern spice bistro with a tapas-style menu devoted to flavour and wonderment.” It’ll be opening up in The Food District at Square One, one of many exciting restaurants to open at the shopping centre recently.

The restaurant was founded by Zorawar Kalra, who is a judge on MasterChef India and is also known as the “Prince of Indian Cuisine.” Kalra hopes to bring new flair to Indian cuisine through traditional Ayurvedic flavours and modern global influences.

Farzi Café will have a stunning dining area that spans over 4,000 sq ft, and more details about the menu will be announced closer to its opening.

Until then, we can assume that it will feature some of the same offerings as the successful London location. According to its description in the MICHELIN Guide, the dishes are reinterpreted versions of classic Indian dishes with “clean, distinct and multi-layered” spicing and a drink menu with “zodiac-themed” cocktails.

Farzi Café isn’t the only exciting new spot to grab a bite in Mississauga this October. Canada’s very first Carlo’s Bakery, brought to us by the Cake Boss himself, is opening its doors in Port Credit to serve up Buddy Valastro’s world-famous Italian treats.

And Square One is definitely the place to be this September. There are all kinds of unique food pop-ups to try all month long, from Sri Lankan fusion to soft-baked vegan cookies. Mmmm.
