Immersive shows have been all the rage this year from Monet to Klimt, we’ve seen it all. The trend isn’t over yet though, as a new show titled Frida: Immersive Dream, covering the life and work of Frida Kahlo, is set to open in Toronto in March 2022. The 500,000 cubic feet exhibit space at 1 Yonge Street will be transformed into an immersive art wonderland.

This new show comes from the producers of the wildly popular Immersive Van Gogh and Immersive Klimt exhibits. Similar to those exhibitions, Frida will use state-of-the-art technology to bring Kahlo’s work to a monumental scale under the artistic direction of Italy’s Massimiliano Siccardi.

The immersive Frida Kahlo exhibit in Toronto will allow guests to see the artist’s work brought to life in a whole new way. Some of the most notable works include The Two Fridas, The Wounded Deer, and Diego and I. You’ll also be able to see an assortment of photographs, drawings, and iconography. It’s a whole new way to see Kahlo’s life work, from pain to triumph, you’ll see it projected with 90,000,000 pixels and 1,200,00 frames of video.

In order to bring Kahlo’s magic realism works to life, the exhibition will also feature an accompanying music score by Luca Longobardi. The multifaceted elements and 360-degree projection will ensure that you get a new view of Kahlo’s work everywhere you look. So whether you’re a long-time fan or have never heard of her work, this show is sure to be eye-opening.

Now the show isn’t happening until next spring but tickets are on sale now. As always we recommend planning ahead and purchasing your tickets now as these events do have a tendency to sell out. Also, keep in mind that you will need to provide proof of vaccination, wear a mask and follow social distancing. You can learn more by clicking below.
