Good Friday is nearly here, and we’re already thinking of fun ways to kick off the long weekend. Whether you want to see live music, a late-night comedy show, or turn back the clocks with Queer As Funk—there’s something going on tomorrow for everyone!

Here are 10 of the best things to do in Vancouver on Good Friday, this April 15, 2022.

Easter at Maan Farms

Looking for some family-friendly fun with some bunnies, baby goats, and other barnyard animals? Take a day trip to Maan Farms in Abbotsford for their Baby Animal Easter (BAE) Days. Baby animals. Ice cream. Freshly baked pie. Need we say more?

If you’re lucky, you may even manage to find the Golden Egg and the prize that comes with it! That’s right, Easter egg hunts are not just for the kids.

Where: 790 McKenzie Road, Abbotsford

Alegria at Cirque du Soleil

After a much-anticipated return, Cirque du Soleil is creating quite the stir all over Canada. Thankfully, there’s still plenty of time to go see their heartwarming, fan-favourite show, Alegria. Between the happy-go-lucky characters, bright colours, and circus artistry (and loads of snacks in the concession stand), you’re sure to have an amazing night. Every act had us holding our breath—from the flaming batons act to the flying finale!

See LP perform at the Orpheum

Chances are, you’ve heard of her music, but not of the artist herself. American singer and songwriter Laura Pergolizzi—otherwise known as LP—makes her grand return to Vancouver this Friday at the Orpheum Theatre. She’s written for everyone from Rihanna, to the Backstreet Boys, to Cher, to Celine Dion, who personally sought her out. Don’t miss out on the lyrical and vocal genius that is LP!

Catch Willy Wonka at the Rio

Perhaps aptly timed at 4:20 pm at the Rio Theatre is a showing of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory—the one with Gene Wilder, of course. Enter a candy-coated “world of pure imagination,” where children get lured into a chocolate factory by a grown man who believes that turning a girl into a swollen blueberry will humble her.

As always, there are delicious snacks, soft drinks, wine, beer, and more at the concession stand. So don’t be a Grandpa Jo—get up from your couch/bed nest and head over to the Rio!

Comedy After Dark

Every Friday, Vancouver’s top stand-up comics get together for a raunchy, adult-themed show that really tests your personal definitions of a “joke.” If you and your date finished your dinner early and want to keep the night going, give Comedy After Dark a try! No better way to bond with your co-workers after a long week than by hearing a bunch of comedians rip their dirtiest, darkest material, with a beer in hand.

Hit up some new restaurants

Since Spring is well underway, it’s time to start getting out of our comfort food zones and experimenting. Luckily, there are some great new eats in and around Vancouver, from bakeries to breweries, to brunch specials.
