Finally, May is here, and with a new month comes all sorts of new things to do. Whether you want to see some films, eat, check out an online event or simply get outside, Seattle has a lot in store for you. With that in mind, here are 10 socially distant things to do in Seattle this week.

Independent Bookstore Day

Don’t miss out, be sure to get in on the last day of bookstore fun. Because this year the “day” is actually 10 days but it ends on Monday. So see if you can make 10 purchases from participating bookstores to snag your free tote. It’s a super fun tradition and we highly recommend that you give it a go.

Crosscut Festival

For those of you that are news-focused, you’ll want to take a look at this festival. The Crosscut festival features journalists, politicians, authors, creators, and more from around the nation. They’ll come together for this festival to take a hard look at the people and events that shape our lives.

Tai Chi & Qigong Classes

Want to learn something new this week? You can participate in an introduction to the fundamentals of Qigong & Tai Chi class. Plus it’s free and online so you can safely learn the practice from home. Who knows, it might just become a new part of your life.

Read with strangers

We love The Stranger’s Virtual Silent Reading Party and highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already. After all, it’s a great way to enjoy a book with others, safely and quietly. So get out your books and get ready to sit back and read with people around the world.

Feminist book circle: The Revolution Question

Might as well hop in on a book circle if you’re really feeling it. This book is by Professor Julie Shayne and looks at the roles played by women in three Latin American liberation movements between the 50s-90s. You’ll definitely learn a thing or two and you don’t want to miss out on this.

Dinosaur Discovery

Want to experience what it’s like to have dinosaurs walk the earth? Well, you can do just that this month at the Woodland Park Zoo. You’ll be able to see twenty life-sized dino animatronics that are sure to have you doing double-takes. And this one will definitely be fun for the whole family.

Drive-in Movies at Marymoor Park

If you want a break from your regular old streaming you should check out drive-in movies at Marymoor Park. This month you can watch films like Star Wars, Jumanji, Jurassic World, Jaws and more.
