There’s nothing quite like the bounty of PNW spring and summer. Washington state produces some of the best produce in the nation from organic leafy greens, to crisp apples, berries, and foraged goods, we are truly lucky. That’s why it only makes sense that Seattle and a few other local and nearby cities rank among the best US cities to eat local food.

The ranking comes from LawnStarter who looked at cities with great access to “community-supported agriculture (CSAs), u-pick farms, local dairy farms, and on-farm markets.” In total they looked at 17 metrics also considering the number of local food movement groups.

These are the top 10 best US cities to eat local food:

  1. Portland, OR
  2. Baltimore, MD
  3. Alexandria, VA
  4. Washington, DC
  5. Minneapolis, MN
  6. Seattle, WA
  7. Boston, MA
  8. Madison, WI
  9. Providence, RI
  10. Vancouver, WA

Obviously we’d love to see Seattle in first place but we have to give a round of applause to our sister city Portland. That being said, we’re not too far behind in 6th place and followed by Vancouver in 10th place.

It’s worth noting that Vancouver, WA came in 2nd place for most u-pick farms followed by Seattle in 5th place.

Look’s like it’s time to head to the farmers market!
