There’s a reason why Prosecco is such a popular choice for the holidays. It’s because it is a beautifully versatile bubbly that can add a sparkle to just about any occasion, any meal and any gathering. And while we love to gulp it down as is for its refreshingly fruity and floral flavours, we decided to get our Prosecco and our holiday entertaining game down right this year. And so, we teamed up with the consortium of Prosecco Superiore DOCG in Italy to uncover some super simple, yet truly amazing ways to amp up our holiday glasses.

Before we dive into the tips and tricks, there’s one fact that we absolutely need to reveal because that’s the real game-changer here. Ready? Here it goes− not all Prosecco is the same. The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG or simply the Prosecco Superiore DOCG-marked wines come out of the region where Prosecco originated− the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene. The region with its 181 wineries and tired vineyards on its steep slopes is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG is the wine that oenophiles refer to when they talk so highly of Prosecco. This is the wine that truly captures the notes and flavours characteristic of a high quality Prosecco. And this is the wine that’s going to make your holiday entertaining a super-duper hit. So, let’s get to the tips on making your Prosecco serving superior (pun intended)…

#1 Opt for the finest quality

You can’t really be that delusional to think that you can win over the winos around you without considering the quality of the wine. This is where Prosecco Superiore saves our ass. It’s a DOCG wine meaning it is the finest quality of Prosecco. This is because the wine producers in Conegliano Valdobbiadene still use the traditional wine-making methods to ensure utmost quality. Plus, every Prosecco Superiore Wine has a minimum of 85% Glera grape, the variety that makes Prosecco, Prosecco.

#2 Ditch the Flute

This might sound strange given the popular misconception that Prosecco is a sparkling wine. Firstly, there’s a variety of Prosecco Superiore to choose from- sparkling to no sparkle at all and extra brut to dry. And secondly, the whole bouquet of Prosecco Superiore can hardly be enjoyed in a sleek glass. The ideal glass for the wine is a tulip glass but you can also use a wine glass.

#3 Play mixologist with Prosecco

Like we said before, a glass of Prosecco Superiore DOCG does the magic even by itself, but when you have guests over, you can always show off your bartending skills. A few quick and easy concoctions include Bellini, Prosecco Margarita, Strawberry Rossini or even a nice holiday punch.

#4 Spruce the drink with fruits and herbs

If you don’t trust your mixing skills, the easy way out is to simply add fruits and herbs to dress up your Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Given that the wine has fruity and floral notes, it tends to go well with just about any fruit- mango, apple, peaches. But you can opt for holiday faves like cranberries and pomegranates too. As for herbs, your best choices are rosemary, mint and candied ginger.

#5 Give it a festive colour

You can also turn your classic light gold drink into a festive array of colours merely by adding a bit of colour syrup to it. Expert suggestions: Blood Orange syrup for red and Green Mint syrup for green. Both festive colours and both with mild citrus notes that go well with Prosecco.

#6 Keep it flowing across all courses

One of the reasons we love this bubbly delight of a wine is because it is an all-occasion, all-season, all-purpose wine. It’s perfect for all courses of a meal and all meals of a day and can literally take you from morning to night without breaking a sweat. So, keep the Prosecco Superiore DOGC flowing through every course. In fact, you can even save yourself the whole appetizer hassle and simply serve up the spritzy wine with some nuts and dried fruits.

#7 Set up a DIY bar

We are totally digging this tip. So, you set up a bar with herbs and fruits of your choice, chopped and placed in separate bowls. Keep a syrup or two handy if you wish. And of course, showcase your stock of Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Then let your guests have some fun creating their own concoctions. Maybe go first and create your Prosecco glass to inspire others.

All of these tips are easy wins when it comes to mastering your holiday wining. So, do yourself a favour and stock up a bottle (or 10) of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG wine. And let your entertaining shine!
