Heck yes, Vancouver, the first weekend of June is upon us. And while it’s looking like it might be a rainy one, we’re nonetheless excited to make the most of it! Don a light raincoat and explore the great outdoors, or have some fun enjoying indoor options. Either way, we’ve got covered.

Here are 10 things to do in Vancouver this weekend.

Head over to the farm!

U-pick strawberry adventures are back at this beloved Abbotsford farm! If you’re thinking that some fresh strawberries would be perfect for dessert this weekend, you’re absolutely right. What’s more, strawberries are only ripe for the next week or so, so you’re window is closing!

Browse the Vancouver Art Gallery Auction

While we certainly can’t afford to bid on any of the pieces, the Vancouver Art Gallery’s first-ever online auction offers a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s big dog art scene. We like to play a little game where we make bets with our friends about the selling price. Our first pick? A vase made by Seth Rogen.

Watch a movie

With any luck, we’ll be able to start recommending actually going to the movie theatre here soon. While we wait, it’s good to know that Vancouver’s local theatres are continuing to stream some amazing stuff. Our pick this weekend? Tarkovsky’s Solaris, hosted by The Cinematheque. Frequently compared to 2001: A Space Odyssey and a noted influence of Inception. Basically, it’s part of the sci-fi movie canon.

Have a beverage in public

Outdoor pools weren’t the only city amenities to get the go-ahead in May. Vancouver has brought back 3 public plazas for alcohol consumption this summer- one downtown, one in Mount Pleasant and one in the ‘Fraserhood’. Not bad, but we’re still waiting for public drinking in parks to get going.
