Howdy Edmonton, we know it hasn’t exactly been the best week of weather, but it’s looking like things are going to turn around for this weekend! And guess what? We’re here to help you make the most of it. Whether you’re looking for fun activities at home or some great options outside, Edmonton has a ton to offer you.

Here are 10 things to do in Edmonton this long weekend.

CHECK OUT ROOT 107

As part of Edmonton’s ‘Downtown Spark’ project, this outdoor space features public art, seating areas made from recycled materials, and greenery to brighten up the space. The best part? There’s a rotating selection of some of Edmonton’s best food trucks.

GO FOR AN OUTDOOR WORKOUT

From yoga in the park to running trails and more, we’ve got you covered from all angles. Plus, May is like the perfect month for outdoor activities- not too hot, and not too cold (mostly). Plus, we might be crazy, but we actually enjoy working out when it’s raining a little bit.

FIRE UP THE BBQ

A little springtime BBQ is never a bad idea, and we found out about an amazing bonus for it this week. Turns out, the local brand Motley Que just won the prestigious title of the Best BBQ Sauce on the Planet. Their ‘Sticky Fixx’ sauce went up against over 360 different kinds, and was the only one to receive a perfect score! Quick, go buy a bottle before more people find out!

STREAM A MOVIE

While we’ve got a pretty solid TV at home, we really want Edmonton’s local movie theatre to start screening movies again. To help out, we check in with the Metro Cinema on a weekly basis to see what movies are available to stream. And, we have to admit, they’ve got some great taste.

When: Streaming throughout May
Where: Online
Cost: Varies

HEAD TO THE MOUNTAINS

The sun is out and you should be too! The mountains are calling our name so we think it’s about time you lace up your hiking boots, pack up the car and head to the Rockies where trails aplenty await. Click the link above for the most beautiful hikes you can do near Edmonton this weekend!

OR SOME ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS

More roadside than off-road? Don’t worry, because Edmonton seriously might be the best city in Canada for access to roadside attractions. There are over a dozen amazing, small-town sights to see, from a giant Easter Egg to the world’s first official UFO Landing Pad. And, unlike those poor folks in Calgary, we can get to most of them in a day trip or less.
