It’s not October yet, but we think spooky season is really more of a mindset. However you view it, Seattle has at least a few spots that are sure to get your heart rate up if you’re brave enough to visit them. So take a chance and visit one of the 10 most haunted places in and around Seattle.
Surprise! Or is it? Everyone’s favorite public market just so happens to be pretty haunted. After all, it’s been open for well over a century and has had millions of visitors. But Chief Seattle’s daughter, Princess Angeline has allegedly never left. Next time you’re at the market be sure to keep your eyes peeled because you might just see her ghost near the market entrance.

The Gessner Mansion is now affectionately known as the Georgetown Castle. But it’s had many lives, most notably as a former brothel. And as you might have guessed, at least a few people have reportedly died on the property making it quite a spooky place. So next time you’re in Georgetown be sure to stroll by but please keep in mind that this is a private residence.

This beautiful theatre is a gem in our city and is also regarded as one of the most haunted spots in the city. If you want a show and a scare be sure to look out for shadowy figures or Mr. Moore himself next time you’re attending an event at the theatre.

A morgue, haunted? What a concept… but before you keep scrolling, the Georgetown Morgue is truly different. It was the site of Seattle’s most gruesome unsolved crime. According to the website, on October 25th, 1968, the entire staff of Broughton Brothers Funeral Services were bound and forced into the crematorium chamber. To this day the culprit is still unknown but you can check out the building by visiting the haunted house that now operates on the grounds.

Want a pot brownie? Keep your eyes peeled for the treats inventor, Alice B. Toklas. Her ghost allegedly has never left the hotel as one of the thousands of folks who have stayed here. Although considering that the hotel has been open for over a century, we’ll assume Alice has plenty of dead friends roaming the halls with her.

The most haunted places aren’t always the scariest. Roche Harbor’s Afterglow Vista is a stunningly beautiful memorial to the McMillin Family and is full of Masonic symbolism. It’s a spot that looks and feels lost in time but it is a grave and located within a graveyard and that means you won’t be alone when you pay it a visit.

Sometimes you have a bad day but probably not as bad as US Congressman Marion Zioncheck. In the 1930s he leaped to his death from the 5th floor of Seattle’s beautiful and iconic Arctic Club. Some people think Zioncheck is still around to this day… at least he has a beautiful building to wander in the afterlife.

Now we don’t know how haunted this place is but it does act as the last stop for at least a few famous people. You can visit Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee, and many many others at this beautiful Seattle cemetery. Plus there’s nothing quite like a walk in a cemetery to put you in the spooky season mood.

Kell’s is a popular pub these days but it happens to be located in one of Seattle’s oldest and most historic buildings. Let us tell you, this building was not intended for eats and drinks, rather the Butterworth building was Seattle’s first mortuary. Of course the building is said to be haunted by at least a few spirits. And we’d imagine that if you stay for a few drinks you’ll be seeing more than a few.
Where: 1916 Post Alley
It’s an abandoned mental institution, how could it not be haunted? Its past is dark and has many deaths associated with it. So if you’re brave enough to visit you might just see a few souls left wandering the property. But do your research and look at maps before you go because part of this campus is still active and you don’t want to get arrested for trespassing.
Where: 25625 Helmick Rd, Sedro-Woolley
Stay in the city or go for a little drive, whatever you choose, just make sure you don’t accidentally bring any otherworldly passengers back with. Don’t get too spooked and have fun out there!
