EXPLORE THE NEW METIS CROSSING OPTIONS

New experiences and spaces at this beloved cultural centre are now officially available! Go check out this incredible spot near Smoky Lake to learn in the cultural centre, explore the farmyard, or even take some archery lessons. It’s a unique day trip idea, and we’re fans.

HEAD BACK TO THE ART GALLERY

We’re going to start with a couple more relaxed picks this week. First up is the Art Gallery of Alberta, which officially reopened after an extended closure that started last winter. If you need a different kind of summer fun, then a quiet visit to an A/C controlled art gallery is always nice.

WATCH A MOVIE

A trip to the movie theatre is also a great way to beat the summer heat. And luckily, some big name titles are returning to the big screen. In fact, this week is the release of the newest A24 film The Green Knight, starring Dev Patel. Sorry, our film buff side is showing.

VISIT THE U OF A BOTANIC GARDEN

There’s something special about visiting a garden during the summer. Especially when that garden features thousands of plants and beautiful areas a-plenty. Enjoy some incredible flowers in bloom then lounge under a tree for a picnic! It’s a great way to beat the heat.

HAVE A TASTE OF EDMONTON

That’s right folks, the beloved outdoor food and drink festival is back for another instalment! There are over 50 participating food trucks and restaurants this year, which means you’ve got all sorts of delicious options to try. It’s a must-do summer activity, if you ask us.

ENJOY THE NEW SUMMER FUN MIDWAY

Here’s another major option kicking off this week! The Edmonton Summer Fun Midway is taking over the Edmonton Expo Grounds. Expect tons of midway attractions like rides and arcade games, food vendors, and more at this family-friendly event.

ROSSDALE POWER PLANT TOUR

That’s right folks, tours of the Rossdale Power Plant are back! This is your chance to check out a historic landmark in the city, while learning about its history at the same time! And, we have to admit, it’s stuff like this that we like to see on Instagram, if only for the unique factor.

GO CHASING WATERFALLS

Safely, of course. But Alberta is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in all of Canada, and they’re just waiting for you to enjoy them. Whether you’re seeing an iconic spot for the first time or taking a trip off the beaten path, we’ve got picks for you.

TREAT YOURSELF TO SOME ICE CREAM

Ready for a sweet treat to beat the heat? A new option awaits you in Strathcona! Drizzle Ice Cream only opened earlier this month, but they’re bringing the noise with soft serve, dips, drizzles and even vegan options to enjoy. Ice cream is the quintessential summer treat, and we think this is a great addition.

IMAGINE VAN GOGH

After a number of delays, the long-awaited immersive exhibit that took Vancouver by storm is finally open in Edmonton! Originally from Europe, this exhibition showcases the artist’s best works on a larger-than-life scale, using high-quality projectors and audio for a more immersive experience.
