The waiting game is over! Zellers Canada has finally announced it will be bringing its beloved pop-up to downtown Toronto and here’s what you need to know.

In an Instagram post shared on Friday, the Canadian retailer surprised its loyal followers with the news, stating it will open at the Hudson’s Bay Queen Street location later this month.

“You want it, you got it. Buckle up, buttercup,” joked Zellers. Oh trust us, we’re ready to ride!

Back in May, Zellers had shared its plans to expand within select Hudson’s Bay department stores around the country. Their plan was to open “larger footprint stores in some or all of those same locations.”

The Toronto location was set to be the first to open, with 20 additional pop-ups to follow in August.

The first pop-up will be at Hudson’s Bay’s flagship store Queen Street store in June. An additional 20 pop-ups are expected to open in August.

As for the Zellers restaurant concept that toured around Canada, it doesn’t seem like it will be popping up at any of the new locations this summer. But who knows? It looks like Zellers has been full of surprises lately.

A rep from HBC told Curiocity in an email that Zellers restaurants are not feasible within the 10,000-square-foot shops.

But taking a look at the comment section in Zellers’ recent post, it looks like they’re also hoping to one day bring back its department stores. A follower commented that they hope all goes well with the pop-ups so that the retail could move into it’s own “full-store building”.

“We hope so too, we are taking it one Zeddy step at a time,” responded Zellers.

Ditto on that front! As for when the downtown Toronto pop-up will open, mark your calendars for June 23rd, 2023.

See ya’ll there!
