Thought you escaped the snow? Think again! A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for Toronto and all of southern Ontario on Thursday ahead of heavy snow and strong winds.

According to Environment Canada, an “area of heavy snow” is expected to make its way through the region this afternoon.

A total of five to 10 cm of snow is in the forecast, along with strong northwesterly winds blowing up to 70 km/h this evening and into the overnight hours.

During that time, there is a chance of low visibility on the roads which may impact rush hour considering its timing.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” shares EC.

According to The Weather Network, those in Toronto and around the Golden Horseshoe, the snow is expected to make landfall around 2 PM to 5 PM.

Early workers may be in the clear but for those in rush hour traffic, it could be a longer drive home than hoped.

Per TWN, Thursday’s system is expected to be “short-lived,” but we’re still expected to see more snow as we head into the long weekend.

If you put those winter boots away, do us a favour and bring them right back out. You’re gonna need them if you’re heading outdoors this weekend.

Drive safe!
