We can’t wait for those summer days when you can hang out by the beach and soak up all the sun. If you’re after a day trip with stunning views and charming small-town feels, you’ve got to check out Cobourg Beach.

Just over an hour’s drive east of Toronto is the small yet mighty town of Cobourg. This lakeside community has a rich heritage with a vibrant downtown, small-town atmosphere and renowned waterfront, according to the Town of Cobourg.

But its biggest draw and most popular summer hotspot is its white sandy beach.

Cobourg Beach offers a stunning soft white sand shoreline, a bustling boardwalk, and calm blue waters.

You’ll also find cute retro-style lifeguard towers and beach volleyball nets you can reserve.

“Looking out across the water on Cobourg beach with no land in [sight], you will swear you’re sitting somewhere ocean-side in the Caribbean,” says the local tourism site Experience Cobourg.

This beach is so special that it was once named one of the top beaches worth visiting near Toronto by VRBO.

As for the town itself, it received recognition for being one of Canada’s best places to live.

According to the town’s website, Cobourg has been named multiple times by MoneySense Magazine for being one of the top places to live in the whole country, among places with populations under 25,000.

According to Destination Ontario, the beach is made out of two parts –  the main beach being Victoria Park Beach and a quieter stretch of sand away from the crowds called West Beach.

The town hosts events on its main beach throughout the summer, and gets pretty busy, especially on warm summer weekends. Stop by in August for its annual Cobourg Sandcastle Festival!
