See permanent snowfields & small glaciers in this spectacular Alberta wilderness area

Looking for somewhere to unplug and enjoy a relaxing end-of-summer romp? Go for a scenic hike, or back-country camp where wildflowers grow and animals roam.

Located in Clearwater County Alberta, White Goat Wilderness Area is an oasis with tall mountain peaks, forests and, between June and July, pretty purple and yellow petals throughout.

As for what you’ll see after springtime has come and gone? Those who climb high can admire permanent snowfields and small glaciers that are perfect for landscape photographers and anyone looking to work up a sweat.

Also in the area? Keep your eyes open for a glimpse of everything from bighorn sheep and mountain goats to woodland caribou and elk – though it’s worth noting that wolves and bears also live in the WA.

Now, this should go without saying, but it’s important to be careful and respectful while in White Goat Wilderness Park.

Here, bikes and horses are actually permitted, fires are banned  – and fishing and hunting are a big no-no, but there’s plenty to experience.

You’re in for a real ‘natural’ adventure, so check it out and don’t forget to let your friends and family know where you’re going and what time you intend on coming home. Phone service can be pretty sparse in these parts!

Enjoy and happy sightseeing!
