With another stat holiday just around the corner, we’d be willing to be your hoping to solidify a weekend’s worth of plans – but not without some preparation! This Friday, government employees and shops all over the city will be closing early or just taking the entire day off, so take note, friends, because nothing kills a vibe quicker than a locked door. Here is everything open and closed on Canada Day in Calgary – for your convenience.
OPEN
MOVIE THEATRES
Hoping to catch a flick this weekend? Landmark Cinemas, Cineplex and Calgary’s cheap theatre, Canyon Meadows, will all be open this weekend.
MALLS
Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, Southcentre Mall, CrossIron Mills, CF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will all be open on July 1st.

From themed foods, temporary tattoos and flags – The Calgary Zoo will not only be open but will be celebrating Canada Day this year.

CALGARY-OWNED GOLF COURSES

Having a BBQ? Need milk or need to do a last-minute beer run before you head to your campsite? You’re in luck. Though (again) we’d recommend checking your local stops hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open this Friday.

CITY-OWNED RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND LEISURE CENTRES
Sorry, folks – but this Canada Day, all city-owned pools, indoor and outdoor, as well as fitness and rec centres will be closed in lieu of the Stat holiday. Don’t worry though, it won’t be long until they reopen.
POST OFFICES
Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Canada Day (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.
COSTCO

While grocery and convenience stores will be open this Friday, Costco will be unshoppabe this Friday. Looks like you’ll have to get your massive hot do fix before Canada Day!
GOVERNMENT OFFICES
From the passport office to the DMV, all government offices will be closed on Canada Day.
