Hollywood North is especially hard at work this season, with a ton of movies and TV shows filming in Vancouver & even more slated for the rest of the summer. From the Godzilla-Kong sequel to Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+, here’s what’s filming in and around Vancouver this month.

Godzilla & the Titans, 2024

Godzilla vs. Kong filmmaker Adam Wingard is directing the sequel to the $470 million-grossing original 2021 series. The TV production is slated to film scenes in Vancouver throughout this week and will juggle human elements as well as characters from the Monsterverse.

The Production company EP Hydronaut Canada Inc., will film exterior scenes at 601 Beach Crescent. If you want to stop by and try poking your head in, they’ll be filming on Monday, July 11th from 7 am to 10 pm near Granville Bridge. The production will likely be hard to miss, with over 180 background actors and performers on set!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

According to Hollywood North Buzz, Percy Jackson’s Camp Half-Blood is set up in Aldergrove, BC on about 20 acres of private land at the corner of 256th Street and 24th Avenue. A resident of the area recently shared photos of the archery set and hobbit-style houses lining the forest.

Season 4 of CW’s Nancy Drew series is set in Horseshoe Bay in Maine, but it’s being filmed rather close to our own Horsehoe Bay. Kennedy McMann returns as the starring teen detective, with production in North Vancouver lasting from Tuesday, July 19th until December 2022.

Borderline

Directed by Jimmy Warden, Borderline is a feature crime film about a pop star, basketball player, and bodyguard defending themselves against a crazed fan. Filming will continue to take place in Burnaby until Friday, July 8th.

Buddy Games 2

Whatever the opposite of “critically-acclaimed” is, Buddy Games 2 is it. The sequel to Josh Duhamel’s bizarre film is being filmed on North Fraser Way in Burnaby. Stop by between Monday, July 11th and Saturday, August 6th for what is sure to be an entertaining set.

Career Opportunities in Murder & Mayhem

Another detective show, Career opportunities in Murder & Mayhem is exactly how it sounds. The former greatest detective in the world (Mandy Patinkin) mentors his protege, Violet Beane in the new Hulu series. Check out filming between Thursday, August 4th and December 6th in Surrey.

Sadie Stanley and Lexi Underwood star in the breakout series Cruel Summer, which began filming in Vancouver this spring and will wrap on Friday, August 19th. The show continues the story of how a popular teen was abducted by her school’s vice-principal, and how she’s seemingly been dethroned by her awkward classmate.

Creepshow, Season 4

This horror-comedy series is based on the campy ’80s film by the same name, and will film in Maple Ridge until Thursday, July 21st. The show self-proclaims as “the most fun you’ll ever have being scared,” which tells you just about everything you need to know in a sentence.

Though Season 4 has not yet made it to Netflix (the release date is slated for July 20th), production is already in motion for season 5 of Virgin River. The romantic drama may be set in a small Californian town, but it’s being filmed (at least partially) in Burnaby this summer. Check out the set between Monday, July 18th and November 10th.

The Spiderwick Chronicles – Season 1

Last but not least, we have another Disney+ production based on the wildly popular Spiderwick Chronicles books. While this one’s filming a bit later in the season, we think it’s worth it to mark your calendars for September 12th, when filming commences in North Vancouver for the first season. The 2008 film starring Freddie Highmore and Seth Rogen was a hit, so we expect the show to follow suit.

That’s all for now, Vancouver! Have a great weekend.
