Located about 40 minutes north of Kingston, Ontario and just a short drive away from Ottawa is Westport. This small village prides itself on its local community, including its restaurants and shopping destinations.
If you’re looking for a more outdoorsy experience, there are tons of biking trails and local hiking trails to discover. It’s truly a cyclists’ wonderland as road cyclists and triathletes explore the Rideau, the Cataraqui Trail, and the rural roads surrounding the village, according to Village of Westport.

But the definite show-stopper here is the Foley Mountain Conservation Area which offers a spectacular view of the local village and its historic waterway.
The scenic lookout soars high above the town of Westport, aka Spy Rock scenic lookout.
According to the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, standing on top of the granite ridge, you can see the historic Upper Rideau waterway and the Village of Westport. This ridge is Foley Mountain.
After you’ve finished your adventure, explored the downtown core and the viewpoint, why not make the trip down to Gananoque – only 45 minutes south of Westport.
There’s lots to do in southeastern Ontario so definitely make a weekend out of it. It’s worth it!
