Looking for adventure? Hidden in the badlands, you’ll find Wayne, Alberta, and the Last Chance Saloon—a charming place with scenic views, great food, drinks, and a colourful history.
Located less than 20 minutes from the Dinosaur Capital of the World, this quiet town is no Drumheller, but it’s beautiful in the fall and well worth a visit.
Wayne is often described as a “ghost town” and is beloved by tourists from all over the world, especially hungry ones!
While the area was once home to more than 3,000 residents only 28 remain, and the saloon and hotel, which opened in 1913, are at the centre of it all.
Originally built across the street from a busy mine, Last Chance serves a variety of smoked meats, desserts, and appetizers but that’s not the only reason you should visit.
Those who check it out can enjoy a meal surrounded by black-and-white photos, as well as old excavation gear.
Bullet holes can also be seen in the wall of the bar, which the owners say are from “fights the miners got into.”
Once you’ve grabbed a bite to eat, you can also check out the Rosedeer Hotel, which is attached to the eatery and has 6 themed rooms which include the Titanic and Golf.
There’s really no place like it.
Want to check it out? Wear comfortable shoes, bring a camera and enjoy.
It’s pretty cool!
