From far and wide, people come from all over the world to wander Wild Rose Country and it’s pretty clear why. Alberta is a beaut, but Waterton Lakes National Park? There are few spots that can compete.

Never been? If you’re ever in the area be sure to check out the Bear’s Hump Hike, a trail with one of the best views of the hamlet, surrounding mountains and big blue pool.

A 1-hour trot up Bear Mountain, named by the Blackfoot Indigenous peoples for its grizzly-like appearance, this spectacular hike is great for families and has a view worth writing home about.

To get here, you’ll have to head to the Waterton Visitor Resource Centre, which is just across the street from the Prince of Wales Hotel.

The trailhead will start from the parking lot and then take you upwards, through towering trees, bushes and wildflowers, before opening up into the lookout spot.

Need a break? No worries, there are also plenty of benches along the way where you can have a drink, take 5 or enjoy a snack.

Afterwards, visit Waterton Park and grab a meal, explore and stay the night.

There’s really no place like it – so if you’re willing and able, check it out and prepare to be amazed.

You won’t regret it. Enjoy!
