Watch Shawn Mendes teach Canadian & GTA slang in recent interview (VIDEO)

The Pickering, Ontario-born pop star Shawn Mendes is repping Canada in a pretty hilarious way in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. The musician just sat down with the magazine to film a video explaining some ultra-specific Canadian and GTA slang. And anyone (especially from southern Ontario) will get a real kick out of watching Mr. Mendes explain a ton of words you had no idea people didn’t use elsewhere!

Some of the highlights from the video go over super-specific language, including words like loafter, darts, and bare. Plus, very Ontarian phrases like “What you saying'”, “Whose mans”, and “That’s jokes”. There are also some more general Canadian words like Timmies, toque, and washroom.

Of course, the funniest part of the video has to be when Shawn is asked to explain straight up names for things as though they are slang words. The video starts with the name of the Ontarian town Ajax, and along the way, he also explains what the Go Train and Durham Region Transit are. Not exactly slang, but very southern Ontarian nonetheless.
