Only a select few Ontario Parks are open for day use during fall and winter, and Voyageur Provincial Park is one of them. This spot is the easternmost Ontario Park, situated along the Ottawa River. From trails to campsites among beautiful forested landscapes, Voyageur is worth the trip.
If you’re already in the downtown Ottawa area, the drive to Voyageur Provincial Park will take you around one hour.
Coming in from Toronto/the GTA will take you a little longer, around five and a half hours.
Day fees start at $12.25 per vehicle and reservations can be made here.
The most popular hike in the park is via the Coureur des Bois Trail
The trail is easy to navigate and good for hikers of all skill levels, spanning a 1.5km loop.
The path winds through several terrestrial and aquatic habitats, as well as forested areas.
Once the snow arrives, Voyageur gets even more fun. From mid-December to mid-March, the park operates and maintains a 10 km groomed cross-country ski trail.
Trail lengths are arranged in 3 km, 7 km and 10 km loops along a flat terrain. Snowshoers are also welcome to navigate the ski trails on foot.
Hoping to stay awhile? Car camping is available on three different campsites. “Each of the campgrounds offers some campsites with electrical hookup and each can accommodate a wide range of camping equipment,” shares Ontario Parks.
An adventure awaits!
