A magical trail glows with rainbow-coloured lights in this Alberta park

Despite chilling temperatures, Wild Rose Country is full of energy in the wintertime, but few trails are as electric as the Victoria Park IceWay in Edmonton, Alberta.

Alberta’s very own ‘Rainbow Road’

Located on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River, Victoria Park is a hotspot for lovebirds, families, and friends no matter the time of year.

Once it snows, however, the area really comes to life, with the Victoria Park Oval in place of its heart, and the IceWay winding through its trees like a multicoloured ribbon.

Described as “the most magical way to experience Edmonton’s river valley in winter,” this particular area consists of a 400-metre Olympic-sized rink, a pavilion to put on your skates, and the trail itself.

Once you’re laced up and have gotten used to the ice, explore beyond the roundabout and hit one of three exciting trails.

Surrounded by towering trees, these icy routes have been lit by lanterns and rainbow-coloured lights, which truly help to make the season bright.

Want to extend your stay without your skates on? Don’t pack up when your feet get sore!

The park also has picnic sites where you can enjoy a bite to eat and is also perfect for those who want to snowshoe or cross-country ski.

If you’d like to check it out, please stay safe, leave your sticks, balls, and pucks at home outside scheduled times, and enjoy.

Victoria Park is free to visit and is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily — but won’t last forever!

Head there while you can and have fun!

There’s no place quite like it.
