Vancouver’s new ‘convenience store’ with hot dogs and nachos is now open

Without a doubt, this new restaurant/convenience store opening in Vancouver has got one of the craziest concepts we’ve seen. The folks behind DownLow Chicken are opening their newest venture, The Drive Canteen, today! And seriously, have they got a mixed bag in store for you.

That’s because they’ve combined a sneaker shop with a couple of different food concepts. So, you can indulge in a gourmet hot dog and some naches before (or after) you check out the sneaker wall, or grab some local snacks. Heck, there’s even a shoe cleaning service going in there, just in case you want to keep your prized pair of Jordans in tip-top shape.

Honestly though, it’s the hot dogs that are the main attraction for us. The aptly-named ‘Vancouver Glizzies’ (slang for hot dogs) will be offering all-beef hot dogs with a variety of toppings, ranging from the classics (Chicago-style) to the experimental (wasabi mayo, anyone?).

Other food items include nachos (of course), as well as other handy treats, like Jamaican patties and house-made Pizza Pops. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to wash it all down with a milkshake or a curated selection of non-alcoholic beverages. And once again, this is literally in the same space as a sneaker wall.

Yeah, this is someone that needs to be seen to be believed, and today’s the day you can do it!

The Drive Canteen

When: Opens Wednesday, November 10th
