Vancouver has been ranked one of the top tech cities in the world

If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that technology ain’t going anywhere but forward. So, it’s nice to see Vancouver land high on a new ranking of the top tech cities in the world. The rankings looked at a variety of metrics to figure out which spots come out on top. And, we’re here to give you the scoop.

The rankings come from Money.co.uk, an online comparison service specializing in finance. To make the rankings, they used everything from average salaries to the success of startups to even Internet speeds, with the end result being a ‘tech-savvy’ score out of 10.

And, not only did Vancouver manage to snag the top spot in Canada, but we’re ranked 7th for the top tech cities in the world! According to them, and using data from the website Salary Explorer, Vancouver has one of the highest median IT salaries on the list, at $101,293 USD. What’s more, we got a special mention when it comes to education, thanks to the success of various ‘tech degrees’ coming out of the University of British Columbia. Overall, we managed to earn a score of 7.1 out of 10.

And, while we may balk at the cost of living in Vancouver (and rightfully so), we’re actually the third cheapest amongst the top 10. With an annual cost of living estimated around $37,243 USD, we’re only more expensive to live in than Stockholm and Dallas, which occupy 9th and 10th on the list respectively.

Hmm… maybe it’s time we moonlight as copywriters for tech companies, and get a sweet, sweet piece of that technological pie.
