Fans of the beloved Vancouver Mural Festival are in for a treat this year! Not only will visitors get to check out over 30 new murals across the city – but the 11-day celebration will feature a ton of new, exciting programming. Expect daily block parties, mural tours, live performances, and much more. Let’s get into it!

In years past, the festival has completely transformed Vancouver’s public art scene, bringing hundreds of new artwork by local artists to fruition. This year is slated to be just as impactful and community-oriented – and not to mention a blast for folks of all ages!

The art

You’ll be able to view all of the new artwork (by 50+ local artists) at this year’s festival through daily guided walking tours through 8 different neighbourhoods: Cambie Village, Mount Pleasant, North Shore, River District, Strathcona, Marpole, downtown, and West End.

The entertainment

Now, let’s get into what’s new this year, because there’s a lot of exciting stuff in the mix! To start, the festival will host public talks and live performances at the all-new City Centre Festival Hub – including a free Circus and Flow Show on Thursday, August 4th and multiple dance battles on Friday, August 6th. Other highlights include a drag brunch, a live art battle, and an art market.

For the 19+ folks, there’s also a series of afterparties and pop-up discos slated for Saturday, August 6th and Saturday, August 13th. You can check out the full list of events here!

The grand finale

Oh, and the festival’s send-off? A massive all-ages street party at the Granville Promenade between Smithe and Helmcken! According to the festival’s organizers, the free street party will feature “a full day of live music, DJs, drag, dancers, kids’ activities, live painters, market and more.”
