Want to catch some fireworks on Canada Day? There might not be any official ones in Vancouver, but that doesn’t mean that neighbouring cities won’t be lighting up the skies on July 1st. From Burnaby to Steveston, here’s where you can find some fireworks on Canada Day this year.

Celebration at Castle Park 

A free all-day event is coming to Port Coquitlam’s Castle Park, complete with tons of family-friendly entertainment, music, a pancake breakfast and fishing derby, a beverage garden, and local food vendors like Salty’s Lobster Express and Little Ooties to look forward to. Oh, and free shuttle service from multiple locations in Port Coquitlam to the park!

Fireworks will commence as soon as it’s dark, according to the event page.

StreetFest in Burnaby

Burnaby’s second annual StreetFest is returning to the Metrotown neighbourhood with a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Take to the streets to dance as JUNO award-winning headliner LIGHTS performs electronic synth-pop tunes, or enjoy JUNO-nominee and Two-Spirit Mohawk artist Shawnee Kish taking the stage.

Visitors can also take advantage of family-friendly activities and community displays along Central Boulevard and Civic Square, and check out the food trucks and concerts at Central Park!

StreetFest will kick off at 6:30 pm with family-friendly celebrations and performances, and cap off with a fireworks show at 10:15 pm.

Canada Day in Surrey

Western Canada’s largest Canada Day event will take over the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on July 1st from 10 am to 10:30 pm. And it will feature a ton of fun-filled performances, activities, rides, fireworks and much, much more.

To begin with, the JUNO award-winning, Toronto-based indie rock band, Broken Social Scene will be headlining the musical performances. These will be followed by powerhouse progressive-rock duo, Crowns Land and JUNO award-winners Neon Dreams.

In addition, there will be a line-up of DJs setting the Community Stage ablaze with their killer beats. And also, local dance performances to get you in the groove.

Steveston Salmon Festival

Want to mix things up from your typical Canada Day celebration? Why not check out the Steveston Salmon Festival this year? The celebrated annual tradition is back with its staple Salmon Bake experience, Japanese Cultural Show, family-friendly ‘Sammy’s Fun Zone,’ and its Canada Day Parade – which is back for the first time since 2019!

The full day of fun will kick off at 10 am with an array of dazzling floats and classic vehicles making their way from Garry Point Park to the Railway. As for Canada Day fireworks, visitors can catch the ultimate salmon fest cap-off at Imperial Landing at 10:15 pm.
