Want to mix things up from your typical Canada Day celebration? Why not check out the Steveston Salmon Festival this year? The celebrated annual tradition is back with its staple Salmon Bake experience, Japanese Cultural Show, family-friendly ‘Sammy’s Fun Zone,’ and its Canada Day Parade – which is back for the first time since 2019!
Let’s dive right in.
Parade & activities
The full day of fun will kick off at 10 am with an array of dazzling floats and classic vehicles making their way from Garry Point Park to the Railway.
From 11 am to 5 pm, visitors can check out a ton of local art at the Steveston Community Centre, or check out a delicious Horticulture Show. From 12:30 pm to 4 pm, you can head to the Japenese Cultural Show, which will feature
martial arts demonstrations in Judo, Karate, Kenjutsu and Kendo at the
Steveston Martial Arts Centre Judo Hall.
You can also see traditional Japanese cultural arts and performances in the Kendo Hall of the Martial Arts Centre, including Ikebana, Bonsai, Calligraphy, Koto and Shamisen.

Salmon Bake
Now, we come to the coveted Salmon Bake, which provides participants with a delicious meal of salmon, a bun, potato salad, chips, and soda or water.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance for $20 each until June 20th – so avoid long lineups on the day of, and snag some while you can!
Live performances & fireworks
The Spirit of Steveston Entertainment Zone will feature live performances by Orchard Sky and Warren Dean Flandez from noon until 5 pm, and allow guests to purchase local brews and vino.
The music festival will take place across multiple city blocks, stretching from Steveston Village to Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site.
As for Canada Day fireworks, visitors can catch the ultimate salmon fest cap-off at Imperial Landing at 10:15 pm.
