It’s no secret that Vancouver’s food scene is top-notch, but it never hurts to hear it from visitors and people travelling to the city from out of town.

To that end, Trip Advisor just released this year’s Travelers’ Choice Awards for the best food destinations in the world. And among 20 global greats like Rome, Lisbon, and Hanoi is none other than Vancouver.

With years of Dine Out fests, street food culture, and a plethora of vegan-friendly eateries popping up – it’s no wonder our food game is globally recognized – although we’ll admit we might be a little biased.

Trip Advisor notes that Gastown in particular is a cornerstone of Vancouver’s history and food & drink culture.

“Vancouver was founded as “Gastown” by an Englishman with a penchant for beer and storytelling. Today Gastown is a historic section of the Canadian metropolis, and the lively pubs still reflect the area’s former status as a sort of community drinking center. The city’s forests, grand parks, and impressive suspension bridge beckon travellers to explore them, as do the city’s shops and museums.”
