It’s no surprise that Toronto is full of brainy people! We take credit for our talents based on some world-class education. Not to brag or anything. Now, academics have more of a reason to celebrate! The University of Toronto ranked 1st in Canada according to Quacquarelli Symonds’ annual subject ranking.

QS, a London-based analytics firm, assessed nearly 1,400 institutions based on several interesting factors. These include academic survey results, employer review surveys, and citations per research paper. They also use a particular metric called the H-index. This measures productivity and impact of scholar’s publications. It’s like a study of studiousness. Neat.

Even globally, U of T is making a name for itself! Besides taking the crown in Canada, it also made the top 10 global ranking in eight subjects. Some of these subjects include library and information management, education, computer science and even sports-related subjects.

U of T also placed within the top 25 out of 31 subjects alongside some pretty prestigious universities, such as Harvard, Oxford, Berkeley, and Stanford. So that means you can get an Ivy-league education for a fraction of the tuition? What a bargain!

Congrats to our Toronto brainiacs. Next time you consider procrastinating that 20-page essay, remember that your contributions are for a good cause. But also, getting that degree is kinda important. Time to hit the books.
