First FULL trailer for ‘Under The Banner Of Heaven’ features a ton of recognizable Alberta locations

From city to country, Calgary, Edmonton, and their surrounding areas have been featured on screens big and small – but these next few years will be better than ever. With shows like Tegan and Sara’s High School, HBO’s The Last Of Us, and Alberta-shot Under the Banner Of Heaven coming down the streaming service pipeline – more eyes are on the Prairie Province than ever before.

In fact, just this week, the true-crime adaption UTBOF released its very first FULL-length trailer and Alberta has never looked more chilling.

Based on a novel by Jon Krakauer of the same name, the series will follow Pyre (Andrew Garfield) a detective who begins to question everything about his church after an encounter with Ron and Dan Lafferty – two men who were later charged with the real-life 1984 murder of their Sister-In-Law Brenda (Daisy Edgar-Jones).

Within the two-minute teaser, several recognizable locations can be seen in a darker, grittier light than most of us are likely used to.

From the rolling badlands of Drumheller and Didsbury’s Mainstreet and St.Peter’s Anglican Chruch in Calgary, Albertans are in for a thrilling ride of shocking twists, familiar sights – and A+ acting.

Notably – while they don’t show up in the trailer, fans will also catch a glimpse of YYC’s Palace Theatre, done up in 80’s neon, and McDougall Centre – which was reported as one of the many filming locations.

Can’t wait to check it out? Alberta-shot Under the Banner of Heaven, written by Oscar-award Winning genius Dustin Lance Black, will premiere on April 28th on FX.
