Uh oh, Seattle ranked as the saddest metro area in the nation last month

Seattle hasn’t exactly always been known as the cheeriest place in the US. Between our lack of sun and all that rain, it’s no surprise that we feel a little down sometimes. But Seattle had a particularly rough November. In fact, Seattle was the saddest metro area in the nation last month.

Yep, Seattle is depressing and also depressed! About 1.5 million adults in the metro area reported having feelings of being depressed or hopeless last month. And we get it, after all our winters aren’t the greatest. Not to mention the pandemic has really thrown a wrench in things.

If you’re wondering why this data is being collected, it’s part of the new Household Pulse Survey. Basically, officials want to see how the pandemic is affecting American’s mental health. And while this data is a bit disheartening it’s important to note that depression across the nation is at an all-time high due to the pandemic. So we are truly not alone. And if you’ve been feeling down just remember that many people across the nation feel the same way.

If you’d like to see more of this data and the other cities that ranked high on the list you can click here. And if you or someone you know is struggling you can click here to see King County’s mental health services. Additionally, you can always call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 to speak with someone.

With that, let’s all try to end 2020 on a high note because if you’ve made it through this year you can make it through anything.
