B.C-based grocery store to open its first California location

More often than not, it’s Canadians who are tempted to cross the border to shop at U.S.-based chains like Trader Joe’s and Target. However, Californians will soon get a taste of B.C-based T&T Supermarket, which is opening its first-ever California location this fall. While this news won’t affect shoppers in our province, it’s certainly an exciting milestone nonetheless!

Known as Canada’s favourite Asian grocery retailer, T&T will open at the Westgate Center in San Jose (1600 Saratoga Avenue) this fall, so if you find yourself in the state for a visit, rest assured you can still pick up your favourite T&T goodies while you’re there.

With two stores in the works in Washington state, this marks T&T’s third store announcement in the U.S.

Opening in a former Walmart location, the new San Jose supermarket will allow Bay Area residents to finally get their hands on T&T’s selection of authentic Asian products, fresh produce, live seafood, Hong Kong-style street food, and freshly-baked pastries.

According to T&T, the new location will feature a BBQ counter, noodle station, dim sum and street food section, hot food bar, and made-to-order Chinese crepe station.

It will also be the first time Californians will be able to access the chain’s signature Private Label products including pineapple cakes, Taiwanese sausages, soup pork dumplings and green onion pancakes.

With over 33 stores across Canada, it was only a matter of time before T&T expanded to the U.S., if you ask us. So it’s something to make note of during your next California trip!
