Undoubtedly one of the most popular day trip destinations in British Columbia (for good reason), the charming village of Harrison Hot Springs is a must-visit this summer. Scenic lakes, quaint downtown, and world-famous hot springs – what more could you ask for?!
Situated in the Harrison River Valley on the largest lake in southwestern BC, the picturesque village is revered for its two mineral hot springs, Potash and Sulphur, which are 40 and 62 degrees respectively.
Water is pumped from one of the springs and cooled to provide visitors with an indoor public mineral hot springs pool to be enjoyed at 38 degrees.
For many years, the local Sts’ailes First Nations have travelled by canoe to use its healing waters, calling the hot springs “Qwolts,” meaning boiling water.

In addition to its healing hot springs, Harrison River Valley is acclaimed for its variety of annual community arts and culture events, which range from the Harrison Sunflower Festival to the upcoming Agassiz Fall Fair & Corn Festival.
In the village itself, visitors can also check out the Kilby Historic Site, Visitor Centre & Sasquatch Museum, Ruby Creek and Ranger Station Art Galleries, and one of the Sts’ailes Cultural Tours.
Looking to make a splash before summer ends? Harrison Hot Springs is also home to Canada’s largest floating waterpark!
So there you have it, Vancouver. If you’re looking for a fun day trip destination or a weekend getaway, the village is about a 90-minute drive from the city.
Happy exploring!
