Located in Kananaskis, this Alberta stunner has been described as ‘a must-visit in the wintertime’ and is the perfect stop if you’re looking to stretch your legs and get some fresh air this season.

A 3.4 km trek safely travelled with a pair of cleats, Troll Falls typically takes about 90 minutes to complete and can get busy on the weekends, but don’t let that deter you.

“The trail leads to a stunning frozen waterfall that’s a perfect photo op,” Travel Alberta writes – and we second that, though it’s beautiful no matter the time of year!

Want to check it out? If you’re headed there from Canmore, venture east on the Trans-Canada Highway toward Calgary Exit the highway onto Kananaskis Trail.

Follow it to Stoney Trail and kick things off at the trailhead.

As always, please dress accordingly!

It is cold out there so remember to bring appropriate footwear, wear a few extra layers and watch your step!

It’s truly something else.
