The planet is literally at our fingertips right now because the world’s best museums are offering virtual tours to aid people in this difficult, but necessary isolation period.
Here are 10 museums that you can “walk through” from your couch.
THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
At the Museum of Natural History (yes, the one from Night at the Museum) you’ll see everything from life-sized dinosaurs to exotic ocean creatures. The only thing we know for sure you won’t see, is overnight security officer, Larry, because Ben Stiller, like you, is probably quarantined at home.

NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART
This Museum offers two different tours, one of which is a gallery of art from Dutch Baroque painter Johannes Vermeer, the other being a collection of clothing from America’s colonial and Revolutionary eras.

THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART
This contemporary art space is actually where you’ll find works like Van Gogh’s Starry Night and the Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. No big deal, they just have some of the most famous paintings known to man.

GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM
In addition to their collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary art, you can also tour the famous and almost upsetting (for those who get motion sickness) staircase in New York’s Guggenheim Museum.

VAN GOGH MUSEUM
The Van Gogh Museum has, by far, the largest collection of Vincent van Gogh art and artifacts. Here, you can check out over 200 paintings, 500 drawings, and over 750 personal letters up close-ish and personal.

RIJKSMUSEUM
No, that’s not a typo! We can’t pronounce it either. The Rijksmuseum has acquired works by Vermeer and Rembrandt and has a large collection of Dutch Golden Age art if you’re into that.

Discover the ancient Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies at this legendary museum, located in the heart of London. How posh.

MUSEE D’ORSAY
This popular gallery is full of incredible French artists who lived between 1848 and 1914, including Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. This is actually where you’ll find his Self-Portrait.

LOUVRE
The Louvre is best known for being the home of the Mona Lisa, but they’ve also acquired works by Michelangelo and Raphael. Here you can see the Aphrodite sculpture, the Regent diamond and the crown of Louis XV! If you’re going to check anything out on this list, we think it should be this one.

UFFIZI GALLERY
This is the least “well-known” gallery on this list, but it’s absolutely worth checking out anyway, if not for the art, then for the building, which was designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1560. It’s beautiful.

Honestly, taking a virtual tour is almost exactly like going to a museum, anyway! You can’t touch the art there and you won’t be able to touch it from your couch. For an ultra-realistic experience ask your quarantine buddy to ask you what your interpretation is for every single piece in the highest-brow way possible. We’re feeling cultured already!
