Spontaneous trips to the Big Apple just got a whole lot easier — and cheaper! Starting on May 10, Canada’s newest bus service FlixBus will run trips from Toronto to New York City and back for a fraction of what you’d spend on a plane ticket.
FlixBus launched in Canada in April, starting with domestic routes only and now expanding to offer cross-border service.
Routes from Toronto to NYC will run five days a week. Passengers will board at 10 p.m. at the FlixBus Harbourfront station and will be dropped off in NYC Midtown (31st St & 8th Ave) at 7:50 a.m. the following morning.

There are also two stops along the way in St. Catharines and the Ontario side of Niagara Falls.
The journey is close to 10 hours in total and you’ll have access to free wifi and your own power outlet, as well as comfy seating and extra legroom to take a nap.
As for the return trip, you’ll board at the same location in Midtown at 9 p.m. and arrive back in the city just before 7 a.m. the next morning.
A one-way ticket costs $64.99 with a service fee of $2.25 — a much more budget-friendly way to travel, plus you’ll be spared from the crowds at Pearson Airport. You can even transport your bicycle on the bus.

As for domestic routes, FlixBus runs an express route from Toronto to Ottawa, a Niagara Falls-Toronto line including a stop in St. Catharines, as well as a more comprehensive local line with stops including Waterloo (University of Waterloo), Kitchener (Downtown), Guelph, Mississauga, and Toronto.
The Ottawa-Toronto runs Thursday-Monday with one trip in each direction per day, while Niagara Falls-Toronto and Waterloo-Toronto runs daily service in each direction, with service doubled on Thursdays-Mondays.
