We’re just days away from the first day of summer, and the City of Toronto is keeping us cool with the early opening of a number of outdoor and wading pools in the city.
Summer-like weather made a swift introduction just a few days ago, with muggy weather and lots of sun. Though with the humidity out of the way (for now), we’re still seeking ways to stay cool. Sometimes, A.C. just isn’t enough, so a pool day is needed.
Earlier this week, Mayor Olivia Chow announced the early opening of 15 outdoor pools and 16 wading pools across Toronto.
As of June 13, these outdoor pools are open to the public on weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.:
So if you wanted to go for a dip this afternoon, who’s stopping you?
In total, the City operates and maintains more than 50 outdoor pools across Toronto in the summer. The rest will open Saturday, June 20, for partial hours – weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Starting Friday, June 26, all outdoor pool locations will open for regular hours.
If a Heat Warning is issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, the City will extend hours at eight designated outdoor pools until 11:45 p.m., versus the regular 8 p.m. closing time.
These 16 wading pools have also opened earlier this year, as of Saturday, June 13, through Sunday, Sept. 6, from noon to 5 p.m:
All remaining wading pools will be open starting Friday, June 26, operating daily until Sunday, Sept. 6.
According to the City, Splash pads will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. now through Sunday, Sept. 13.
Though we don’t have to worry about that JUST yet, per the City, most of the outdoor pools will close for the season on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026. The initial 15 pools will remain open from Tuesday, September 1, until Monday, Sept. 7. During that time, they will be open weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and weekends from noon to 7 p.m.
Rest assured, you have plenty of time to enjoy the city pools this upcoming season.
