If you saw some big guys in hockey gear while riding the TTC on Thursday, we can explain. The Toronto Maple Leafs took the subway to their annual Outdoor Practice at Nathan Phillip Square again this year just like true Torontonians!

Toronto Maple Leafs players may be riding the TTC in full gear this week & here’s why

For the last few years, the players have been spotted commuting to the event and 2024 was no different.

The Toronto Maple Leafs took to social media to share videos of the players getting on the subway and sitting with fans writing: “Oh just another day for Willy,” poking fun at the fact Leafs star William Nylander takes the subway regularly!

Nylander was spotted on the subway in November and when asked about it, he said it’s a normal routine for him.

“This season I’ve taken the subway every game except for one,” Nylander said at the time. “It really just depends on traffic. Yesterday I didn’t even bother to check the traffic, I just hopped on the subway.”

The Leafs also posted a video of the players arriving at the Outdoor Practice with fans who were sporting some items from Justin Bieber’s drew house clothing line.

If you missed the players on the TTC or the Outdoor Practice, there are other festivities you can still attend.

From Friday, February 10th to Saturday, February 11th, Nathan Phillips Square will hold a Leafs Alumni signing session, a Blue & White Alumni Game and family-friendly activities at Activation Alley.

There will also be a Viewing Party for the Leafs vs. Senators game on Saturday evening.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, they’re just like us!
